The Hamblen family has owned and operated River City Youth Fitness since the fall of 2004. Prior to opening a gymnastics facility, Holly and Fletcher entertained the idea of a moving company; however, their prior experiences of moving between houses cultivated a disdain for the moving process. Their children (Tyler, Travis, Madison, and Tucker) played a multitude of sports with an emphasis on wrestling, soccer, and gymnastics. Holly and Fletcher wanted to incorporate the passions of their children into their future business. Thus, they started the business in response to a need for change in their lives and a perceived need in the community for a sports program with a different twist (in this case gymnastics).
Holly ran the day-to-day operations in the early years while Fletcher balanced administrative work with work in the finance industry. Some early success allowed Fletcher to trade in his calculator and starched shirts for cartwheels and balance beams. The two of them have not looked back since! River City has serviced thousands of families within the Richmond community. Times have changed a lot since the grand opening in 2004. The initial goal, however, has not wavered. Holly and Fletcher aim to insight a contagious attitude about the benefits of living a healthy and active lifestyle!
Today, all four Hamblen children have invested a great deal of time and energy in the family business. Tyler built the wrestling program from scratch, Travis runs the recreational side of River City, Madison incorporates her expertise in any and all classes, and Tucker coaches both recreational and team gymnastics.
